In an effort to strengthen mental health support and wellbeing within educational settings, Khwendo Kor (KK) organized a three-day training on Psychosocial First Aid (PFA) Counseling for 18 government girls school teachers in Peshawar Under NCA Project. The training aimed to enhance the capacity of teachers to provide immediate emotional and psychosocial support to students in distress, in line with the Inter-Agency Standing Committee (IASC) Guidelines. It also emphasized a survivor-centered approach that empowers students to make informed and independent decisions.
Throughout the three days, teachers participated in engaging and interactive sessions focused on:
- Day 1: Foundations of Psychosocial Support, Stress and Coping, and Introduction to Psychosocial First Aid
- Day 2: Communication and Active Listening, Identifying Needs, and Providing Practical Support
- Day 3: Supporting Volunteers and Staff, Understanding Burnout, and Building Peer Support Networks
The training included group work, role-plays, reflective discussions, and real-life case examples, allowing teachers to practice skills for supporting students affected by trauma, stress, or gender-based violence (GBV).
The initiative reflects Khwendo Kor’s and NCA continued commitment to promoting psychosocial wellbeing, inclusive education, and gender-sensitive responses in schools across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
