GBV Response and Support Mechanisms One Day Training with District Grievance Redressal Committees, Contractors, E&SS/Gender and Social Specialists ( Batch #01 )

KhwendoKor on 29-August-2025 successfully conducted a training on GBV Response and Support Mechanisms in Shelton Rezidor Peshawar under the KP-Rural Accessibility Program (KP-RAP). The session brought together members of the District Grievance Redressal Committees, Contractors, Environmental & Social Safeguard (E&SS) Specialists, and Gender & Social Specialists to strengthen their knowledge and capacity in addressing issues related to Gender-Based Violence within the project framework.
During the training, participants were introduced to the different forms of GBV, its impacts on individuals and communities, and the importance of survivor-centered approaches. The discussions focused on reporting pathways, referral mechanisms, and the specific roles and responsibilities of District Grievance Redressal Committees in ensuring timely and sensitive redressal. Contractors and E&SS/Gender Specialists were also engaged on compliance with GBV protocols, creating a safe and respectful work environment, and aligning with Khwendo Kor’s Prevention of Sexual Exploitation and Abuse (PSEA) policy, which reflects the organization’s commitment to zero tolerance towards GBV and SEA.
Through interactive sessions, group work, and case studies, the training provided participants with practical knowledge and tools to deliver effective support and protection to survivors, while also building accountability and trust within communities. This initiative highlights Khwendo Kor’s continued efforts to establish safe spaces and inclusive systems for preventing and responding to GBV under KP-RAP.

Provincial Workshop Enhancing GBV Reponses and Support mechanisms at District and Provincial level.

A Provincial-level Workshop was successfully conducted on 25th July 2025 by Khwendo Kor under the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Rural Accessibility Project (KP-RAP) at Highland, Country Club & Resort, Islamabad, focusing on enhancing Gender-Based Violence (GBV) Response, Prevention and Support systems. The workshop brought together key stakeholders, including:

🔹 Planning & Development Department (P&D)

🔹 Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Commission on the Status of Women (KPCSW)

🔹 Social Welfare Department

🔹Creative Engineering Consultants (CEC)

🔹 Project Implementation Unit (PIU)

Collaborative session aimed to strengthen interdepartmental coordination, review existing mechanisms, and explore practical strategies to provide timely Response, Prevention, Support, and Justice to GBV survivors across the Province. Together, we move towards a more inclusive and safer Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

Strengthening Gender Integration: Khwendo Kor Participates in IASC (Inter-Agency Standing Committee) Gender Accountability Framework GiHA WG+ Consultation Workshop.

 

Ms. Maryam Bibi and Ms. Tehmina Kazmi from Khwendo Kor actively participated in the GiHA Working Group+ consultative workshop held in Islamabad on 30 May 2025. The session was organised in collaboration with the Inter-Agency Standing Committee (IASC) and Gender Accountability Framework (GAF) team in Pakistan.

This important consultation, aligned with the Gender Task Force’s monitoring role, is part of the global review of the IASC Gender Policy. The policy outlines standards for mainstreaming gender equality across all areas of humanitarian coordination and programming.

Through a structured and facilitated dialogue, the consultation brought together key humanitarian stakeholders to reflect on the past year’s progress in gender integration, highlight best practices, identify gaps, and collectively plan actionable improvements for more gender-responsive humanitarian efforts.

Gender Facilitation Desk Launched in Ex-FATA: A Milestone for Gender Equality and Justice

On 21st May 2025, the Gender Facilitation Desk was inaugurated under the Rights Based Community Stabilization Project by UNDP for District Khyber (Ex-Fata). The event was chaired by Minister for Social Welfare and Women Empowerment of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Mr. Qasim Ali Shah and attended by high profile dignitaries, UNDP, Government institution and public sectors organizations. Khwendo Kor’s CEO, Madam Maryam Bibi, and GBV Expert Miss Afshan Bibi also participated and CEO Maryam bibi highlighted the Desk’s importance in promoting women’s empowerment, gender equality, and access to justice for vulnerable groups on LS News. LS Production provided high-quality media coverage and expressed interest in partnering with Khwendo Kor.

Orientation Session on KP-RAP Component 2 – Charsadda District

On May 5, 2025, the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Rural Accessibility Project (KP-RAP), funded by the World Bank and implemented through the C&W Department, organized a district-level orientation session in Charsadda as part of Component 2: Safe and Affordable School Journeys for Girls.

The session was attended by the District Education Officer (DEO), Deputy DEO, ASDEOs, and Head Teachers from 42 identified treatment schools. It focused on the operational and safety aspects of providing free transport to middle school girls (Grades 6–8) residing at a minimum distance of 1.5 km from school.

A vital component of this initiative is ensuring girls’ protection from Gender-Based Violence (GBV) and promoting a safe commuting experience. For this purpose, Khwendo Kor, a leading women-focused organization in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, has been engaged as the GBV Firm under KP-RAP. Khwendo Kor will support in sensitization, awareness, and integration of gender-responsive safety measures within the project scope.

This orientation marks a step forward in reducing barriers to girls’ education and ensuring safe, affordable, and inclusive school journeys.

Khwendo Kor and Christian Study Center

Khwendo Kor organized one day exposure visit for KK management team for their wellbeing and learning. The delegation visited Christian Study Centre in Rawalpindi to exchange learnings and experiences where KK and CSC could work in collaboration to promote social cohesion and inter faith harmony in society.

16 Days of Activism Dated: 09-12-2022

Khwendo Kor under it’s project on interfaith harmony and social cohesion organized #16DaysOfActivismAgainstGenderBasedViolence in collaboration shaheed Benazir bhutto women university peshawar larama campus on 9th December 2022. Distinguish guests from Government Departments such as Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Information Commission-KPIC, Directorate Of Culture KP, Nuzhat Taskeen, Lawyers from Ombudsperson KP for Protection Against Harassment of Women at the Workplace, Ex-Commissioner Rubab Mehdi and faculty members and more than 200 students from shaheed Benazir bhutto women university peshawar larama campus participated in the event.
During this event the speakers throw light and awareness on Sexual Harassment at Workplaces, Cyber-Crimes, Women Inheritance Laws, and Right to Information Act. The session was then followed by a theater performed by renowned TV Artists, on Gender Based Violence prevailing in our society. The audience appreciated the efforts of Khwendo Kor for organizing this event on such important issues.
